Cobb AngleΒΆ

The Cobb Angle measurement is used to quantify the deformity of the spine and the angle of deviation in patients, typically for conditions like scoliosis. Select the Cobb Angle measurement from the Advanced Measurement menu and assign the left mouse button to it.

Start the measurement by marking the first vertebral line on the spine.

Identify the vertebral endplate at the initial point of the largest spinal curve deformity. Place the start and end point of the first vertebral line precisely along the identified endplate. Adjust each point on the scene to better align the line with the endplate if needed.

The image below represents a typical placement of the first vertebral line.

Mark the second vertebral line on the spine to calculate the deformity.

Identify the vertebral endplate at the opposite end of the largest spinal curve deformity. Place the start and end point of the second vertebral line precisely along the identified endplate. Adjust each point on the scene to better align the line with the endplate if needed.

The Cobb Angle measurement will be automatically calculated and completed once the two vertebral lines are placed, indicating the angle of spinal curviture in degrees.

The image below represents a typical placement of the second vertebral line.

Modify the position and orientation of the two vertebral lines to automatically recalculate the Cobb Angle.
