Opening DICOM Files & Folders

Users can open and view DICOM files directly in the VisioVIEW Viewer by double-clicking them if the software was registered as the default DICOM viewer on the system.

When the series consists of multiple DICOM files (CT, MR, XA, and other modalities), it is still sufficient to open a single file. VisioVIEW will automatically recognise that it is a multi-frame series, and automatically open the entire series.

If the Viewer window is already opened, and the user opens another DICOM file, the file will be opened within the current active window, with the previous image still accessible and available in the Viewer’s series panel.

The opened series in the Viewer will be grouped by their study information in the series panel. More information about the Viewer Series Panel is provided in the following section.

Additional Options

  • Users can also use drag & drop to open DICOM files in the Viewer area. Files that are related to any series currently opened in the Viewer are subsequently added to the appropriate series in the series panel.

  • Access the Viewer menu in the top toolbar to see more options on how to open DICOM files in the VisioVIEW Viewer.

Tip

To access and manage DICOM files in a more efficient and organized manner, import the files directly to the VisioVIEW Study Browser by choosing the appropriate PACS server or local database. The Study Browser allows users to easily list, search, filter, and access their DICOM files directly from VisioVIEW.
