Thick Slab and Rendering Modes

The 3D relationship of the structures in the body can sometimes be better understood by seeing multiple slices simultaneously. For this purpose, the VisioVIEW CT Viewer offers users the ability to choose the specific Thick Slab mode, changing the way the slices are represented in the view.

The default Thick Slab mode of the VisioVIEW CT Viewer is set to Slice, which results in only one slice being displayed at a time. The default Thick Slab mode can be changed in the settings.

Types of Thick Slab Rendering Modes

There are three different thick slab rendering modes available for viewing multiple slices in one view simultaneously.

  • MIP - Maximum Intensity Projection: Displays the highest intensity value of each voxel from the available slices.

  • MinIP - Minimum Intensity Projection: Displays the lowest intensity value of each voxel from the available slices.

  • Mean Intensity Projection: Displays the mean average value of each voxel from the available slices.

Modify Thick Slab Mode

The active thick slab mode in the CT Viewer can be modified by choosing an option from the Thick Slab dropdown located in the bottom panel of the viewer.

Modify the slice thickness by dragging the Value slider in the desired direction, or enter a specific value in the input field. The slicers will correspond to the chosen value and they will spread out to indicate the current thickness.
